A Recipe for a Novel Cake

12/27/2018

By Gayle C. Krause

Ingredients needed:
1 tempting concept for a book
1 large scoop of catchy hook
1 teaspoon of a set-up scene
2 characters— one good, one mean.
A pinch of woe and bitter strife;
1 cup of love in MC’s life.

Directions:
Mix the plot and add a dash,
of victory with a villain’s clash.
Stir in mystery to be solved.
and ounce of tension ’til dissolved.
Sprinkle humor. Fold in facts.

Add one quart of strong climax.

Bake for weeks, but do not peek,
until it passes group critique.
Be amazed at how time flies,
while you proof, and then revise.
Frost it with the shiny glaze--
a clever title to amaze.
Then, the readers who partake
will rave about your novel cake!

As both a writer & a baker, I LOVE this! Pinning it my dream board as a reminder that all crafts take time & perfection.
